Important update on The Daring Assignment!

(Photo by Serge Bertasius from FreeDigitalPhotos.net)

Happy New Year, everyone!

I know I'm about 17 days too late (sorry, I've been swamped with things), but I have an announcement to make regarding my Curvy Assignments series. As you know, The Daring Assignment was picked up by Booktrope and I'm hoping to have it released with them by March. It's still available on Amazon for $1.99, so be sure to get it before the price goes up!

Dangerous Concoctions, which is book 2 in the Curvy Assignments series, will be done next month, and release date will be announced when my team is established and a timeline is set in place. Gia's book, which is untitled at the moment, will come this year also.

I wanted to let you know that things take a bit more time when you're with a publisher. I can't just write, find an editor, set my own release date and such for this series. I'm hoping to get more romance books out for those that aren't into the smutty things. My romance novels will be self published, so when I finish writing those, I can set my own release date and keep you guys on top of everything!

Thanks so much for being patient with me. It's truly appreciated! I can't wait to get new books out to all of you this year, so keep your eyes open!

Oh! Before I forget:

I'm recruiting stree team members! If you'd like to become a Vixen, just click here! Hope to see you there!

It's that time of year again!

Hi everyone!

It's November and that only means one thing for us authors: National Novel Writing Month! After a bunch of internal debating with myself, I decided that I'm going to participate and try to get the majority of Dangerous Concoctions done, which is Zane's book in The Curvy Assignments series.

I hope you guys are ready for Zane! I have a feeling that this book will be hot and action packed! The ideas that are churning in my head are just insane and I'm so anxious to get it all written. I'll be including exclusive teasers here on my blog, so be sure to subscribe so you don't miss out! To all of the authors out there, good luck this month!

xoxo,

V

The Daring Assignment is live!

That's right!
It's officially live!
It wasn't supposed to be available until the 30th and I was going to set it for pre-order 2 days before it was due to be released, but Amazon wouldn't let me. I either had to release early, or have it release late. Since I have so many marketing things set up for the 30th, I couldn't afford to release late. So here I am! It is now available for purchase.

You can purchase the book from Amazon here.

There is a sale going on from the 28th to the 30th, so make sure you get your copy before the 1st to get the lowest price!

Thanks for your support!

The Daring Assignment exclusive teaser!

Hi everyone! Sorry for the lack of posting. My Lupus has been throwing a fit that has left me out of commission for a little bit. To make it up to you wonderful readers, I am giving you all an exclusive teaser from my upcoming erotic novel, The Daring Assignment!

*    *    *    *    *

“So first things first, we need to figure a title and what this book will be about. Have you thought of anything?” she asked, pulling her long hair into a messy bun on top of her head. I bit the inside of my cheek.  I had no idea what an appropriate storyline would be for this kind of book. This project was going to require a lot of research and I had no idea where to even start. Gia could give me advice, but at the end of the day, she couldn’t write the book for me. As I thought a little more, an idea hit me.

“What about making this story personal? I could make it about a woman who is trying to find her way outside of her family’s shadow and she ends up meeting a man who practically fulfills every sexual need she could ever imagine,” I said, quickly sitting up as excitement took over. Gia scoffed and waved her hand to dismiss the idea.

“I was so bored with that idea that I didn’t even listen to the whole thing.”

“Then how about you come up with something, genius,” I challenged, folding my arms across my chest. Gia’s head lazily lolled from side to side as she thought. I knew that whatever came out of her mouth was either going to be taboo or something that I definitely couldn’t do.

“I think you need a research partner,” she finally said. I raised an eyebrow in confusion. A partner for what? Isn’t that why I was here with her?

“Why would I need a partner? That’s why I have you.”

“Like I said before, I worship the pole. You’re beautiful and all, but I just don’t do girls.”

“What the hell are you talking about then? A research partner to have SEX with?”

“Oh good, you caught on quickly. I was prepared for you to do your usual naive blank stare. You worry me sometimes,” she chided as a grin spread across her lips. I quickly shook my head. There was no way in hell I was going to find a “research partner”. If Julius were to find out about that, his whore title would probably stick with me forever. He didn’t take my job seriously as it was, so doing this would not help my case in any way.

“I can’t cheat on Julius. I would feel dirty doing that,” I protested, pulling my cardigan tighter around me to cover myself. Gia smirked at me.

“Even if your research partner was Zane?” she asked. I opened my mouth to speak, but I didn’t know how to respond. Having Zane as a research partner would almost be a dream come true, but I didn’t know if he was into doing such “research” projects. Either way, that would still cause me to get myself into a deeper situation that I didn’t want to get into.

“I have a boyfriend. Whether we’re compatible or not, I’m still with him until I figure out how to get rid of him. Zane will always just be a friend and I want to keep it that way. It makes things less complicated,” I replied, turning to my journal to avoid making eye contact with Gia. The idea wasn’t a bad one. The thought of doing everything that I had written in my journal with the actual man in mind scared me. If I were to get involved with him in that way, what if I ended up falling for him? I would eventually have to tell him the truth in order to actually be with him and I didn’t want to walk away with a broken heart.

What the hell was I thinking anyway? This is purely research. This would end up being another part of my “escape” from real life. As long as I kept the two separate, everything would be fine… right?

Spicing Things Up with Author Cassy Roop!

Hello everyone! It's that time again! What time, you ask? To interview another author! This week, we'll be learning about Cassy Roop and the start of her Celtic Knot series that I instantly fell in love with! Let's get to it!

The Blurb

Ashley’s Bend-a knot used to securely join the ends of two ropes together.

Ashley Carter thought she had the perfect life as the loving and supportive wife to her upcoming attorney husband. Marrying her high school sweetheart and moving to Chicago to start a life with him seemed perfect, until she ends up walking in on him with another woman.

Determined to start her life over after always sacrificing herself, she attends the grand opening of a new club in town with her best friend. She went expecting to have a good time, what she didn’t expect was to meet Dominic Michaels.

Dominic Michaels is the owner operator of a string of BDSM clubs, The Celtic Knot. He displays control and power over everything in his life, especially his women. Having suffered through a tragic event at a young age, he never allows a woman to remain a part of his life beyond the bedroom, that is until he meets Ashley Carter.

Can the love of a woman loosen the knots of control that Dominic securely holds on to?

Sometimes it is hard to make the shift from control to surrender

The Interview

V: Hey, girl! Thanks so much for doing this interview with me. How about we start off by knowing a little about you?

C: I live in Virginia with my husband and three kids. I am a work from home mom, where I run an in-home daycare, a Les Mills certified group fitness instructor at Gold's Gym, and a full time college student where I am studying Liberal Arts and Graphic design. I love anything with peanut butter!

V: Writing and self-publishing can be hard and intimidating to most people, which causes them to not follow their dreams. What was the life changing moment where you knew that this was something that you wanted to do?

C: I don't have a real life changing "moment" where I decided to be a writer. It is something that I have always wanted to do. After speaking to one of my favorite authors, I decided to just take the plunge.

V: Now that we've survived the basics, let's get down to my favorite part: the book. How do I feel about Ashley's Bend...honey, honey, honey, let me tell YOU! Wait, before I even go into that, how about you tell me what inspired you to write that? I see that you have another book, The Price of Love, but isn't Ashley's Bend your first erotica? How did you make the switch from romance to erotica? And yes, that's two questions in one.

C: I am a reader of most romance genres, so I decided I wanted to be a bit diverse in my writing. The concept of AB came to me one night when I was looking at my Celtic tattoo on my arm. Then I just associated it with knots, bondage, etc. and AB was born. My characters are pretty strong willed. They keep talking in my head until I finally put it down in words.

V: When creating your main characters, Ashley and Dominic, did you have any muses in mind to help you create their physical features? If so, let's see them!

C: Oh yes! Stuart Readon was and always will be my Dominic. Hayden Panettiere is my Ashley and Dewayne "The Rock" Johnson is my Knox!

V: One thing that I can definitely say is that your book actually made me reconsider the BDSM genre. After 50 Shades, I wanted NO part in it. But the way you incorporated it into the storyline and gave it PURPOSE, I thought it was very enjoyable to say the least. As far as BDSM goes, what influenced you to write about it?

C: I wrote it because it interested me. I had to do a lot of research in order to make sure that I was writing everything correctly to my knowledge. I also loved FSOG, so I decided to try my hand in it.

V: If you could bring any character from your book to life, who would it be and why? If I had to choose, I'd personally bring Jared in just to kill him because he irritated my entire life, but that's neither here nor there. Anyway, who was it for you?

C: Definitely Dominic! That man made me hot just writing him lol. I love how he broke through his own walls in order to let Ashley in. It also helps that he is oh so sexy too!

V: My assistant, Christie Mounce, told me about your book and I bought it the same night. I stayed up until FIVE in the morning reading it (knowing DAMN WELL I had to see my hematologist at NINE) and was a walking zombie all day. The book pulls you in from the first page, which is great for me because I have the attention span of a hummingbird! How about you show the people a couple of teasers!

V: There's always that one scene that's hard to write. Whether it's sad, hard to put into words, or too emotional, there's always that one part where we get stuck and have to really evaluate things. Was there any part of the book that was tough for you to write? Not necessarily like a writer's block type of tough, but tough emotionally?

C: The part that tore me up the most was the scene where Dominic takes Ashley on their first date. Knowing how hard it was for him to admit his feelings and emotions was  one thing, but knowing Ashley was going to destroy that was hard.

V: What was your favorite part of the book? As a reader, it's hard for me to say because I loved the entire thing. But as a writer, what scene(s) did you enjoy writing the most? I'll be open minded for this question and not put my mind in the gutter!

C: Honestly, my favorite part of any of my books are the intimate scenes. For some reason, the words just seem to flow easily for me during those times!

V: What are your plans for the Celtic Know series? Do you have any new releases planned any time soon?

C: The Celtic Knot series will be a three part series. Book 2, Figure Eight, will be out on July 24th. Book 3, Triquetra, will be along this Fall.

V: You currently have The Price of Love and Ashley's Bend available. Where can readers find your books?

C: The Price of Love is available on most eBook platforms. Ashley's Bend is exclusive to Amazon until September.

V: The places you can find Cassy Roop!

Second day at camp...and I'm already choking!

Ugh.

It's the second day of Camp NanoWriMo and I'm already choking. Not in a literal sense, but in a writing sense. It's as if all of my excitement and inspiration has just dwindled now that the time has finally arrived to write. I remember sitting around, super eager to write this new story. Now that it's time to write it, I feel like Eminem did in the movie 8 Mile when it was his turn to freestyle.

When I participated in camp this past session in April, things went great! I completed a 70,000 word novel in about 27 days. I wonder what's going on with me this time? Maybe I'm a little bit more anxious about this book because it's way out of my comfort zone. I know, I know. You're probably thinking that I should write something a little bit less risky, and you're probably right. Maybe I should. But I really want to take this opportunity and platform to really challenge myself. Maybe I'm just overthinking this whole process as well as the book, which is making things more complicated than they should be.

At the end of the day, I just want to write something that will make the readers happy. I want to succeed in this project. To be honest, failure is my greatest fear. It's inevitable at times, I know, but it doesn't stop me from not fearing it. I tend to be such a perfectionist at times that it drives me mad. That's probably why I'm already having this writer's block so early in camp. I'm afraid that my project with flop

It's not that I don't have confidence in my writing. I think I've improved over the year and I think I will continue doing so. I'm just nervous because I've never written erotica. One of my best friends has labeled me as a prude, so to be writing an erotica is completely insane in my case. I think I honestly just need to chill out and just write the damn book. When everything is said and done, I can at least say I tried.

I definitely won't give up. Not on this book, and definitely not on myself.

xoxo,

V

My Camp Nano project: The Daring Assignment!

Hi everyone! As some of you may or may not know, Camp NaNoWriMo starts in TWO days! TWO! I'm so pumped and ready to go! I've been tweaking the synopsis, outlining the story and just trying to get everything right. So, I'm giving you the synopsis of the story and introducing you to the characters of my new book!

Title: The Daring Assignment
Genre: Erotic Romance
Expected Release Date: September 30, 2014

Synopsis
She didn’t mean to hurt anyone, especially him…

Arianna Davenport is living the dream. She has a great career as a romance author, a successful boyfriend, and is the daughter to a New York power couple. With her standing, her family grooms her to be perfect. Despite having it all, something is missing in her life.

In an attempt to break away from her privileged, suffocating life, she’s in pursuit of finding her own path to happiness. After her literary agent gives her a risky mission, she sets out to write a best-seller that takes her out of her comfort zone.

When she is thrown into the mix with only Zane to assist her, she quickly finds out she has to choose between her plush lifestyle or follow the new path she stumbled upon. In a short time, everything changes, all because of one Daring Assigment.

Characters

Arianna Donatelli is the main character of The Daring Assignment. When given a risky assignment from her literary agent, she goes on a journey to break free from her posh lifestyle that she feels suffocated by. Things take a turn for the worse when she gets deep into her project and it could cause her to lose everything and everyone she has known.

Julius Parker is the boyfriend of Arianna. The two were brought together at a charity function held by Parker's family, who are also financially successful. Being a third year associate as an investment banker, Julius is making money, but he wants more. In order to claim his part of his parents' estate, he must marry a woman of status. He seems to have his own motives when it comes to dating Arianna. She's everything that he could ask for in a woman: status, beauty, and money.

Zane Foreman is another important character. He's sexy, smooth, and did I mention that he's a chef? He owns a catering company that caters to many of the upper class citizens of New York. After running into Arianna at a night club, he volunteers to help her with her research assignment for her project, sending her world into a chaotic frenzy. Sparks are ignited and sometimes you get into a situation so deep that there's no way you can get out of it unscratched!

This spicy Colombian beauty is Gia Valenica, Arianna's best friend. Sex therapist by day and a dominatrix by night, Gia is Arianna's mentor for her project. She leads Arianna on a crazy adventure that's full of drinks, fun, and sex!

Julissa and DeAngelo Donatelli are Arianna's parents. They play a large role in the reason why she's so miserable with her life. They seem to control her with money, threats of being excommunicated and cut from their estate, and pushing her to "marry rich" since she decided to become an author, which they do not approve of. Once Arianna makes a huge decision, the couple must decide whether they want to lose their only child due to their own selfishness or if they'll just let her live her life.

This young lady here is the culprit of the entire situation. Meet Allison Britton, Arianna's literary agent. Allison proposes that Arianna writes something completely out of her comfort zone, something almost taboo to her. Knowing that Arianna is simply a romance author, Allison challenges her with a new genre in hopes of it becoming a best seller. Arianna accepts the assignment, but both women will soon find out whether or not the daring assignment will make or break Arianna at the end.

The Daring Assignment is coming soon!

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I...mostly played The Sims instead of outline like I was supposed to, but that's neither here nor there.

As I stated on my author page, I am working on an erotic romance. I'm pretty nervous about it because this is way out of my comfort zone AND isn't something that I've written before. I think I'm more nervous because most of my friends think I'm a prude (which I may or may not be), so it's a bit unnerving to think about what I'm getting myself into.

I'm still working on a synopsis for it. Because I'm working on this book for Camp Nano (that starts in a few days), this book will be done by the end of July. The cover reveal for The Daring Assignment will be on September 2, 2014 and the book will be released on September 30th!

I'm pretty excited about starting this story and I most definitely can't wait to get started on it. I'm pretty sure you all will love it just as much as I love writing it!

xoxo,

Victoria
